WL-GramsThis is a featured page

Elena Foy, known as "Grams," has raised Aislinn since her birth (Elena's husband died at an early age). Like Aislinn and Aislinn's mother, Moira, Elena can see fairies.

Keenan, the Summer King, believed Moria, was "the one" and courted her as he did all the others. Like Aislinn, Moira saw Keenan for what he truly was: fey. In panic, Moira ran from Keenan, and became pregnant by an unknown man. After Aislinn's birth, Moria killed herself (rather than becoming a Summer Girl).

Although Grams didn't tell Aislinn the role the fey played in her mother's death, she did teach her granddaughter to fear them. She created three rules:

#3). Don't stare at invisible faeries.
#2). Don't speak to invisible faeries.
#1). Don't ever attract the faeries' attention.

Grams is actually more concerned with Aislinn breaking one of these rules, then being out late or alone with Seth. Given what happened to her daughter, it isn't surprising she believes the real threat is not from other human beings.

From Melissa Marr's website:
Elena is an alt form of Helen, meaning "light" or "torch." She wouldn't use the word, but she is a feminist. She likes doing crossword puzzles; watching CNN, the local news, or the Weather Channel (she has a long-standing crush on Meteorologist John Coleman); and volunteering at several charities during the day when Ash is at school.
