Carla is one of three girls Aislinn is friends with, all of whom attend Bishop OC. Carla and Ash live close to one another and walk to school together.

Of Ash's three school friends, Carla is the most quiet. While she's interested in the things Leslie, Rianne and Aislinn are talking about (like boys) she doesn't mention a boy she is interested in. She seems shy and inclined to follow the other girls' lead, but she is also interested and accomplished in science and tech.

Like all the other girls, Carla thinks Keenan is good looking and seems to find him charming. At the same time, she doesn't work to get his attention; even though she does help Leslie and Rianne include him at their lunch table.

Carla (and Leslie) had bet Rianne Ash would NOT accept a date with Keenan. What's not clear is whether this is because Carla prefers Seth to Keenan, or just that she didn't think Ash would give in. She loses the bet when Ash does, in fact, agree to go to the carnival with Keenan.
